Aesthetical and cosmetic dentistry
Aesthetical and cosmetic dentistry is among the top achievements of medical science. It needs state of the art technology and newly developed special materials and techniques.
Aesthetical dental treatments are usually taken by patients who wish to clear away the discolouration or minor blemishes of their front teeth, but it is also possible to correct the aesthetical defects even of all teeth. Aesthetical dentistry is not a luxury today, from the increasing number of patients visiting us every year it is concluded that a complete, flawless white set of teeth is a basic need for a lot of people.
The two most important fields of aesthetical dentistry are porcelain shells and tooth whitening.
Shells put on front teeth are made of porcelain, only a little of the teeth needs to be ground off to put them on, and they excellently fit existing teeth and other teeth in colour and shape as well.
Another rather popular method of aesthetical dentistry, which is even simpler than putting on porcelain shells is tooth whitening. This process, if done at home (of course, following the doctor’s instructions!), usually takes one week, and excellent results can be achieved. However, smoking, eating and drinking food and drinks containing many colorants – natural (coffee, tea) or artificial (soft drinks containing sugar) – can quickly clear away this nice tone. If whitening is done by the dentist, its effect is much more drastic: teeth become brilliant white and the whole process takes about one to two hours (depending on the number of repetitions).
